Clive Owen admits he blames himself for his split from wife Amanda in a rare interview

Clive Owen has given a rare interview detailing the reasons behind his divorce from his wife Amanda, admitting that he takes the blame for ending their marriage.

The Our Yorkshire Farm star, 68, confessed that he ‘played a huge part’ in his divorce from TV star last year, and ‘made a mess of it’ days after it was revealed Amanda was having one affair with businessman Robert Davies.

On Thursday’s episode of Lorraine, Clive told Christine Lampard: ” It’s a tough time for Amanda right now and I think it’s only a good thing because I don’t use social media to speak out.

‘We filmed Our Yorkshire Farm, people loved it and it was a chance to make something as a family. That was what drove her. It was great and very successful, but I handled it very badly.

“It was such a change in our lives and I unfortunately messed it up. I had a big part to play in ending the relationship.

A huge role to play. I was ranting and ranting and drinking and ranting. I don’t know – jealousy.’

He added, “It seemed to eat away at me and I handled it badly and I behaved badly towards her. I should have supported… It’s been really upset, Amanda is having a hard time right now.

“I just feel like I can’t sit back. I must say something in her defense, she is a remarkable woman. We just got to the point where we couldn’t be together anymore.’

‘We were under pressure, it’s crazy and that makes you look less closely at life. It got to a point where we didn’t get along at all, so we broke up. It’s very sad but that’s how it is.

“We do business together and farm together, so we spend a lot of time together.

“The kids are great, and probably thanks to her. So what happens is we work together to take care of the kids together, she feeds us all and so I think I really believe that the kids are great and fine. And there are so many.’

‘I don’t intend to do anything, but you never know. And the same with Amanda, she’s busy writing. I would like people to leave her alone. She’s a wonderful woman.’

Amanda has been reported to have had an affair with 71-year-old businessman Robert Davies for five years, despite portraying on screen the image of a devoted wife to now-estranged husband Clive.

Insiders say the father-of-11, who had nine children with Amanda, has had to put up with rumors of her affairs for years — and is now accepting that their 23-year marriage is over.

“People might have been worried about him because he was having a hard time when they first broke up, but he’s moved on now,” the friend said.

They continued, “Over the years he has had to endure rumors of affairs Amanda allegedly had. Whether they were true or not, it’s something he’s had to live with.

“It didn’t break them up, but it prepared him for the day she found someone new. It hasn’t come as much of a shock that she’s been seeing someone and it certainly hasn’t caused any heartbreak.

The source added that their lives are ‘intertwined’ as they run a farm together, explaining that Clive and Amanda ‘can’t escape each other’.

They continued: ‘Clive has been so faithful to her for so long, but he’s reached the end of the road and now wants to move on with his life. He doesn’t hang out with anyone himself, but he’s a popular and well-loved man in the Dales and life is full of possibilities again.’

Amanda’s relationship with web designer Robert left his wife of 12 years Yasumi Davies, 56, distraught.

She found out about their affair a year ago after finding a love note from Amanda in Robert’s car.

Former banker Yasumi left Tokyo to marry Robert in North Yorkshire in 2011, becoming his fifth wife.

But as their marriage was in shambles, she said, “He called Amanda in front of me and told her I knew about their affair and it was over. He said they had been having an affair for a few years. But instead of acknowledging the pain I was suffering, he was more concerned about protecting her TV career.”

Amanda and Robert have known each other for at least five years since she and Clive recruited him in 2018 to update her personal website. Their friendship is believed to have blossomed through working closely together.

The source close to Yasumi said, “Yasumi had suspected for a while that Robert was up to something. She felt that he wasn’t really there with her and that his head was elsewhere.

“She was cleaning out the car and found a handwritten note. There was no name, but it was pretty obvious who it belonged to.

Yasumi asked Rob for an explanation and he said he had fallen in love with Amanda and they had been seeing each other for five years.

After the affair came to light, Amanda revealed that she took a hiatus from social media after being criticized for “living a double life” amid her affair scandal.

Amanda and Clive confirmed their split last year in a joint statement.

They said: ‘Clive and I are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to part ways. This was not easy, but we both believe it is the right choice for our family’s future.

“While we are no longer a couple, we will continue to work on the farm and co-parent together, with the happiness and well-being of our children as our number one priority.”
