Several witnesses in a federal investigation were asked if former President Donald Trump showed them a card containing classified information.

The New York Times reports this on Wednesday that federal investigators are continuing this line of questioning in the investigation of Trump’s handling of classified documents he brought to Mar-a-Lago after leaving the White House.

It’s unclear what exactly is depicted on the card, where Trump showed it, and who in the ex-president’s circle saw it.

The Times reported that a source told the paper that investigators asked if Trump showed the map to people on board an airplane.

Another source said investigators appeared to believe Trump showed it to at least one adviser after he left office, while another speculated the card may have been shown to a journalist working on a book.

More broadly, investigators are working to determine why Trump had a trove of classified documents in his Florida club and home.

The Times reported that investigators are also trying to determine whether Trump stayed at Mar-a-Lago later in the spring — he summers at his property in Bedminster, New Jersey — to look at the contents of the boxes containing classified documents. Mar-a-Lago.

On June 3, Justice Department officials visited the Florida resort and left with a handful of documents with secret markings on them.

A Trump lawyer said a “zealous search” had taken place.

Mar-a-Lago was then raided by federal officials in August — an action the former president has repeatedly denounced — and boxes of classified materials were found.

Special Counsel Jack Smith — whom Trump last week called a “crazy man” — is overseeing the investigation of classified documents.

Smith’s two Trump-related probes play in the background as the Manhattan hush money case has taken center stage.

Trump was indicted on March 30 and was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court last Tuesday – a first for a US former president.

He was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with a $30,000 payout to a doorman who tried to sell information about a child Trump allegedly fathered out of wedlock, $150,000 to former Playboy model Karen McDougal and a $130,000 payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

During his sit-down with Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson that aired Tuesday, the ex-president claimed court officials cried and apologized when they booked him.

“When I went to the courthouse, which is also a prison in a sense, they signed me up and I’ll tell you the people were crying — people who work there, work there professionally, who have no problem using killers and they see everyone,” Trump said.

“It’s a tough, tough place, and they were crying. They were actually crying. They said, “I’m sorry.”‘

In addition, Trump is reportedly back in New York on Thursday to sit for a second deposition in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ $250 million civil fraud case.

In addition, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is expected to make a decision on whether or not to charge Trump with a crime related to his attempt to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results.
