Colin Farrell transforms once again into the villainous Penguin in brand new teaser

HBO has released the very first teaser trailer for the chilling new spin-off about an iconic DC villain, The Penguin.

Colin Farrell has returned to the role of The Penguin, once again transforming his physical appearance to resemble the crime lord for the upcoming series.

The short but memorable teaser shows Farrell, 46, in character as The Penguin, laughingly firing at enemies and calling himself the “new kingpin of Gotham.”

The chilling clip begins with Farrell musing, “This is one of those moments. You ask yourself: What kind of life do I want? The world is not made for guys like us. That’s why we have to take everything we decide as our own.’

The trailer appears to show The Penguin in the middle of a power struggle, as he manages to resist an attempted stabbing after discussing fellow Gotham mobster Carmine Falcone.

Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin promises he’s capable of more: “You haven’t seen what I can do,” you hear him say.

He coldly threatens a young man: “You step out of line, if only once. I’ll gut you like a goddamn fish.’

And enjoy his killer reputation.

‘Imagine the people saying my name on the street after you’re gone. Means something,” he says to a woman.

Seconds later, he relentlessly shoots an enemy before laughing in amusement.

The trailer ends with him hissing, “The new kingpin of Gotham.”

The show also stars Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, Carmine’s daughter. She is seen enjoying an intimate dinner with The Penguin as they clink glasses.

Farrell previously played the role of The Penguin in the 2022 film The Batman.

Details on the series’ storyline remain sparse, as the timeline is expected to sync up with where the film left off, following the death of Batman nemesis Carmine Falcone.

According to IMDb, the eight-episode series “follows Oswald Cobblepot’s transformation from a disfigured nobody to a well-known Gotham mobster.”

Colin recently told Variety that while making the 2022 film, he was unaware of a possible miniseries on the villainous character, but knew there was plenty of material to work with creatively and aesthetically.

“The only thing I had a clue about was that I couldn’t explore the character nearly as well as I’d like,” he said. “Because there’s been all this extraordinary work done by Mike Marino and Mike Fontaine and his team, and I thought this was the tip of the iceberg, sorry for the pun, that we were going to do the six or seven scenes that we did in the movie. . I was grateful to them, but I wanted more.’

Colin said his transformation into The Penguin convinced The Batman producer Dylan Clark to bring the project to life.

“Honestly, every thought I had about an extended series had to do with Mike Marino’s work,” he told the outlet. “I just knew there was so much to do with it — getting older, getting older.

“He’s just such a genius, Mike, so it was actually his work that was the inspiration.”

Colin recently attended the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 12, where he was nominated for Best Actor for his role in the critically acclaimed film The Banshees of Inisherin.
