Trump mocks Macron for ‘kissing Xi’s a**’: ex-president praises ‘brilliant’ Chinese leader – and wonders if his French ‘friend’ is getting cozy with Beijing

  • Former President Donald Trump scoffed at French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent trip to China
  • Trump said Macron ‘who is a friend of mine is done with China kissing his a**’
  • The former president made the comments Tuesday in his interview with Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson

Former President Donald Trump mocked French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent trip to China, saying he kissed Chinese President Xi Jinping’s anus.

Trump spoke with Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson on Tuesday, and the interview aired later that night.

Much of the interview — Trump’s first since being impeached in New York last week — focused on foreign policy.

“You have a crazy world about to explode and the United States has absolutely nothing to say and Macron, who is a friend of mine, is done with China kissing him a**. In China. I said France is going to China now?’ said Trump.

Macron traveled to China last week and urged Xi to use his influence to urge Russia to seek a peace deal with Ukraine.

“I know I can count on you to bring Russia back to its senses,” Macron told Xi.

Macron received backlash from the trip, as he said in an interview while in China that the European Union should reduce its dependence on the United States and warned against getting too involved in a confrontation between China and Taiwan.

The French president suggested a crisis could emerge over the self-governed island driven by “American rhythm and a Chinese overreaction.”

A senior French diplomat told reporters on Wednesday that Macron is not apologizing for the comments, according to Reuters.

While in office, Trump courted Xi, but he also pursued policies that were tough on China, including tariffs that sparked a trade war.

Carlson admitted to being surprised to hear Trump talk about hosting Xi at Mar-a-Lago in 2017, calling the former president’s comments “remarkably nuanced and even affectionate.”

Trump called Xi “top of the line.”

“President Xi is a brilliant man. If you searched all over Hollywood for someone to play President Xi, you couldn’t find anyone,” the ex-president said. “The look, the brain, the whole thing. We had a great relationship.’

Trump also remembered Xi’s interpreter.

“He had an incredible — I’m not allowed to say it because it’s very rude and very politically incorrect — a beautiful female interpreter,” Trump said. “When you say it, they say, ‘This is terrible, you can’t say that.’ But she was very professional. She spoke every word for him, very professionally.’
