Amanda Bynes’ ex-fiance Paul Michael claims they split days before suffering mental breakdown

Paul Michael claims that he and his ex-fiancé Amanda Bynes broke up just days before her mental breakdown, which led to her being placed in a mental institution.

While reflecting on the end of their chaotic romance, the 37-year-old actress’s former partner claimed that two weeks before she walked the streets of Los Angeles nude, she “disappeared for three days” before she “came home with another man ‘.

He continued to tell TMZ that “they argued” and Bynes, whom he reportedly first met in November 2019 at Alcoholics Anonymous, “said she ‘didn’t care about him anymore’.”

After he quit, he “packed his things and left their house.”

Michael recalled feeling blindsided by her behavior when she “seemed stable” and focused on becoming a nail technician after enrolling in a cosmetology course.

He speculated that something may have happened to her because she “seemed like a different person” during their last meeting.

On Tuesday, Bynes checked out of a mental health facility of her own accord after a three-week stay, according to TMZ.

She reportedly worked with facility staff to determine she was ready to return to her normal routines.

Subsequently, the former child star will reportedly undergo an outpatient treatment program to ensure she maintains the progress she made during her treatment.

Bynes has been under guardianship since 2013, but it ended last year to give her more freedom to make her own decisions.

TMZ previously reported that Bynes’s parents were not considering setting up another conservatory, as she was doing relatively well prior to her recent mental health crisis.

The original scheme began in 2013, after she was involuntarily committed following multiple run-ins with the law that began a year earlier.

She had two hit-and-runs, as well as a DUI, in 2012, and she was later arrested in 2013 for allegedly throwing a bong out the window of her 36th-floor Manhattan apartment.

Bynes was last hospitalized after reportedly wandering the streets of Greater Los Angeles for four days right after her car was towed in Long Beach on March 15.

During that period, she was apparently in a manic state and walked around naked for some time.

Amanda was allegedly seen naked the day she entered the treatment facility, but a witness told TMZ that the She’s The Man star pulled over a car to get help.

She was apparently aware of her mental state and called 911 to report that she was coming out of a psychotic state and needed help.

After being captured, Bynes was initially placed in a psychiatric facility for 72 hours, which was initially extended while her team at the mental health facility developed a treatment plan for her.

Amidst her mental health struggles, Bynes’ parents banned Michael from having any contact with her.

“They don’t want her ex-fiance with him and he’s been ordered not to have any contact with her,” an insider told DailyMail.com on March 28.

“He doesn’t seem to have her best interests at heart, and her family has nothing good to say about him.”

During a conversation with the New York PostMichael claimed, “She’s off her meds, and she’s still off her meds… She’s wild.”

Michael previously claimed that the two were now “friends.”

Byne’s latest crisis seems to be the reason she pulled out of a reunion with her All That cast at ’90s Con in March, which was originally attributed to an “unknown illness.”

She had previously expressed her excitement about reconnecting with her castmates ahead of the convention.

She would be joined by SNL star Kenan Thompson, his Good Burger costar Kel Mitchell, Danny Tamberelli and Lori Beth Denberg, all of whom were part of the hit Nickelodeon sketch comedy series.

The event would also have been her first public appearance since her conservatory had ended a year earlier.

Bynes appeared on All That, which was later revived in 2019, from 1996 to 2000.
