Trump says he would ‘NEVER drop out’ of the 2024 presidential race

Former President Donald Trump said Tuesday he would “never quit” the presidential race even if convicted of a felony, telling Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, “It’s not my thing.”

During a sit-down Tuesday at Mar-a-Lago, Carlson had asked if there was anything prosecutors could legally throw at Trump to convince him to drop out of the 2024 White House race.

The former president said no.

No, I would never give up. I would never drop out,’ he replied. ‘It’s not my thing, I wouldn’t do it.’

Trump made the remarks after suggesting that President Joe Biden would be the one to bow.

The ex-president claimed “something is wrong” with Biden, 80, but added “it’s not an age issue.”

“Look, I look at him just like you do. And I think it’s almost inappropriate to say it — I don’t see how it’s possible — but something is wrong,” Trump told Carlson.

Trump reiterated that Biden was “not too old” and even praised 81-year-old Senator Bernie Sanders, a former Biden rival, for saying he is “100 percent sharp.”

“I think they’re doing the age thing because I’m four or five years behind,” the 76-year-old former president said. “They say, this is a way to get Trump, let’s call him old.”

“But something is wrong,” Trump said of Biden. “I just don’t see Biden doing it from a physical or mental state, I just don’t see it,” Trump later added.

Trump pointed to an interview Biden gave Monday at the White House Easter Egg Roll with Al Roker today.

“I saw his answer today. On television. About whether or not he would run. To a really nice guy named Al Roker. You can’t get a softer question. That was a long answer, talking about the eggs and this and that,” Trump said. “Listen, I don’t think he can.”

Roker spoke with Biden and first lady Jill Biden on the Truman balcony and asked the president if he planned to participate in Easter Egg Rolls after 2024.

“I intend — at least three or four more Easter Egg Rolls,” Biden replied. “Maybe five,” he continued, his childhood stutters a little obvious. “Maybe six, who cares?”

Roker asked if that meant Biden would run for re-election.

“I’ll be the man who rolls the egg or the man who pushes them out,” Biden replied.

He then clarified.

“I plan to participate, Al,” he said, “but we can’t announce it yet.”

Trump also poked fun at Biden for not hosting a press conference during his trip to Ireland this week — something reporters pushed for in the White House briefing room earlier this week.

“He’s in Ireland now, he’s not going to hold a press conference,” Trump said. “The world is exploding…the world is exploding around us. You can go into a third world war and this man will be in Ireland and not holding a press conference.’

“He hasn’t had a press conference in months, I think, I saw today,” the former president added.

Carlson then asked which Democrat would take Biden’s place on top of the 2024 ballot.

“Obviously the one they would be talking about would be the Vice President, Kamala,” Trump said. ‘But I don’t think she did well on the big stage.’

“But there’s a certain group of people who go crazy if it’s not her,” Trump added, seemingly referring to black voters.

Trump also noted that there was a “very ambitious man” in California – Governor Gavin Newsom. “But he’s done a terrible job with the state,” Trump said.

Carlson seemed surprised when Trump revealed that he and Newsom got along well.

‘I did. I really did. He was always very nice to me. Said the best things,” Trump gushed.

In addition, Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., is now engaged to Newsom’s first wife, Kimberly Guilfoyle.

Trump announced his intention to retake the White House in mid-November, right after the midterm elections, extending the already long presidential campaign timeline.

However, Biden has yet to officially announce a re-election campaign.

An Axios report last week quoted some Biden sources as suggesting it could not come until this fall, while others believed he might announce it sometime this summer.

Meanwhile, Trump is trying to make quick work of the Republican primary field — which has officially attracted Nikki Haley, former Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson, and Vivek Ramaswamy, but with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, Senator Tim Scott, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are all flirting with a bid.

At the same time, he is under increased legal scrutiny after being charged in New York last week with 34 felonies for falsifying corporate records in connection with a $30,000 payout to a doorman trying to sell information about a child Trump allegedly fathered out of wedlock, $150,000 to former Playboy model Karen McDougal and a payment of $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Trump is also under investigation by federal officials in New York, county officials in Georgia, and there are two Trump-related investigations overseen by special counsel.
