Iconic Aussie rock band Taxiride frontman Jason Singh doesn’t look like this any more

Taxiride is best known to 90s music fans for their hit single Get Set.

And the handsome lead singer, Jason Singh, 48, popped up on Today Extra on Wednesday as he relived chart success.

Jason, who is now a solo artist, spoke of the excitement of scoring a number one single as a young man in his 20s, as well as playing alongside Tina Turner at Wembley Stadium.

“It was an incredible ride. The whole band was in their twenties. We worked really hard to get a record deal and release Imaginate [their debut album],’ he said.

Jason said it was incredible to show up at Wembley Stadium with Tina Turner.

“For me personally, it was a real picture of how great an artist could become. She had 440 people on the tour. She leapfrogged stages all over Europe. She would fly in with a helicopter, walk on stage and explode,” he said.

“Her energy was crazy,” he added.

“As a solo artist, I’ve toured with Mariah Carey, Hanson,” Singh said, before adding that he learned how difficult it is for artists to stay on top during his own rise to fame.

Jason now embarks on his Heaven’s Greatest Hits tour, which was inspired by the deaths of some of his favorite artists.

“In 2016 we lost Prince, David Bowie and George Michael. To me it was like making music without those guys in it,” he said.

“But it inspired an album I released in 2018 called Vale, a tribute to all the artists I’ve loved and inspired me in my life.”

It’s an incredible list of songs. The show is not just a performance. It’s almost theatrical because we recreated the day of each person’s death.”

It comes amid a scuffle with Taxiride after a trademark dispute between band members, including Jason.

Jason publicly accused his bandmates of “excluding” him from the group by re-registering the Taxiride trademark without telling him.

Singh, who helped found the ARIA Award-winning band in 1997, lashed out in an Instagram post after it was announced that Taxiride will be performing a series of shows and promotional events without him.

The tour marked the 20th anniversary of Taxiride’s platinum selling sophomore album Garage Mahal, in which Singh plays a major role.
