A Las Vegas woman has been arrested after a 15-year-old boy was crushed when she let him ride his skateboard while holding on to the side of her car.
Anais Hernandez was a passenger in the car on May 13, 2022 when Anthony De La Torre was pulled over, after claiming it was too dangerous to let him do the stunt – only to have drunk friend Destiny Jimenez get behind the wheel .
Jimenez, who was 19 at the time, began cruising Forsyth Street as the teen was holding on from the outside when he suddenly fell off his skateboard and got caught under the car. Hernandez would later tell the police that “it felt like we were going over a bump.”
De La Torre died of his injuries days later, on May 17. His cause of death was multiple blunt injuries and was listed as an accident.
Hernandez, who had a misdemeanor warrant issued for her arrest on child abuse/neglect charges, was taken into custody Wednesday.

When police arrived on the scene on Forsyth Street in May 2022, Jimenez cried and told them that the teen had been sitting on his skateboard at the passenger door of Jeep when he fell and was run over.
Police later discovered that the vehicle belonged to Hernandez who had been driving that day with Jimenez in the passenger seat and four youths in the backseat.

Hernandez reportedly told the teen that the stunt wasn’t safe and she wouldn’t be driving while he was doing it.
Jimenez then told Hernandez she would be driving, so they switched seats and it was Jimenez driving while De La Torre skated on the outside of the car.
Hernandez was not charged at the time.
“It’s very difficult to come to an agreement,” Anthony’s maternal aunt Lydize Lopez told CLASS. “With my cousin who will never be here again.”
“It’s hard to believe I’ll never see him again,” Lopez said. “Because of a mistake someone made.”
