Samantha Armytage says women should marry men from the bush as she gushes over her millionaire beau

Samantha Armytage says women should seek love in the countryside and marry a farmer – as she gushes about her equestrian businessman husband Richard Lavender

TV presenter Samantha Armytage married her millionaire equestrian husband Richard Lavender two years ago.

After finding the love of her life, she quit her high-profile position as an anchor at Sunrise to live a quieter life with her new beau in Bowral.

And now the 46-year-old is encouraging other women to look to the countryside for love.

In an extract published by the Daily telegram In an interview with Stellar magazine, the new host of Farmer Wants A Wife appears to be extremely passionate about the value rural men can bring to women vying for love.

‘I can tell you, country people are fantastic. They’re so capable, they’re gorgeous, they’re great to be around,” she said.

“A lot of the girls I knew who I went to school with go back to the country and marry farmers because that’s where a lot of us came from, and a lot of the city girls I know were [marrying] farmers too.

“So what you have now is this wealth of talent in the regions and young women with huge careers who have returned to the bush, still running businesses and contributing to their communities in huge and dynamic ways.”

The presenter added that she doesn’t believe regional areas in Australia are getting enough attention or credit, and that “there’s a huge amount going on.”

The journalist met her husband Richard, 60, at socialite Skye Leckie’s 60th birthday party in April 2019, and she said there was an instant connection.

They later married on New Year’s Eve in 2020 at Richard’s 40 acre estate in Bowral.

Richard is a stakeholder of Lavender Equestrian, which offers a variety of services for horses in the region, including breeding and training.

According to ownership records, his 40-acre farm in Berrima cost $1.95 million when he bought it in 2007.

Sam will be the main presenter of the new series Farmer Wants A Wife which will air on Channel 7 on Easter Monday 10 April.

She reprises the role made famous by longtime host Natalie Gruzlewski – who will continue to be part of the series as a “co-host.”

Sam had joined the dating show last year as a “guest host,” but her small role has now expanded as Natalie “winds down” her duties.

Their roles are essentially reversed, as Natalie will be hosting her own segment called “Nat’s Getaway” during the 2023 season, with Armytage “front and center” as the face of the franchise.
