Junior cop, 27, is being charged with an alleged sexual offense involving a 17-year-old girl

A young New South Wales police officer has been charged with alleged sex crimes involving a teenage girl.

The police launched an investigation after receiving reports that the probation officer allegedly committed a sex offense involving a 17-year-old girl in December last year.

Following an investigation, a 27-year-old man was arrested on April 6 and taken to Singleton Police Station.

The 27-year-old officer is a probationary agent attached to a commando in the Northern Region of NSW

He was charged with inciting a sexual act without the consent of another person and of offensive behavior in/near a public place/school.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Singleton local court on May 11.

The officer is a probationary agent attached to a commando in the Northern Region of NSW.

The officer’s employment status is currently under review.
