Geelong night stalker filmed breaking into family home as children sleep

Chilling CCTV footage shows ‘night stalker’ breaking into family home while young children sleep – as police reveal masked mystery man assaulted several properties… without stealing anything

  • ‘Night stalker’ was filmed as he entered a property in Geelong
  • The man stayed inside for six minutes but stole nothing
  • He attempted several burglaries in the area

Chilling footage captured the moment a so-called ‘night stalker’ broke into a family home while young children were sleeping – before leaving empty-handed.

The unknown man has been terrorizing residents of Geelong, southwest of Melbourne, after breaking into two people’s homes and trying to break into more than 20 other properties.

While eerie CCTV footage has captured him standing at residents’ front doors in the middle of the night, trying to find a way in, police have yet to track him down.

What’s weirder is that the ‘night stalker’ doesn’t steal or damage property, but instead wanders around for minutes before leaving without a trace.

In one of his final stints, the man is seen entering a property in Bell Post Hill, before spending six minutes inside.

The man even took off his shoes before entering the family home.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Gavin Mullins said a special team of officers has been set up to try and catch the stalker.

“He spent five to six minutes in the houses,” he said A current situation.

“(He) didn’t touch or steal anything, didn’t damage property, didn’t interact with the people and then he just left the premises.

“Until we understand his motivation, we’re concerned and really want to talk to him to understand a little bit more.”

Police are appealing to the public to help catch the unnerving figure, who is believed to have been committing his burglaries for several months.

The ‘Geelong stalker’ has been the subject of more than several sightings in Geelong, Werribee and Torquay since January 29.

His ability to evade capture has caused fear among the residents.

He is often seen in a tracksuit wearing a wide-brimmed hat.

Although he often wears a face mask, during an attempted burglary he showed his full face to the police in the hope that this would mean the end of his stalking.

Criminal psychologist Tim Watson-Munro said the man’s motive may have been sexual in nature.

“We’re not dealing with a madman. We’re dealing with someone who’s well organized, who obviously has some pretty bizarre motivations,” he said.

“I think part of his motivation is that he obviously enjoys the fame. He enjoys not getting caught.’

Detectives from the Divisional Response Unit released CCTV footage of the man on March 20, pleading for help in trying to identify him, with photos showing him for the first time without the surgical mask he traditionally wears.

Resident theories have been circulating online and in local newspapers to find out where the stalker lives.
