Courtney Love commemorates 29th anniversary of husband Kurt Cobain’s death with a photo of his hands

Courtney Love has paid a poignant tribute to her ‘twin flame’ Kurt Cobain.

The 58-year-old Hole star marked 29 years since her husband’s April 5, 1994 death by sharing a black and white photo of his hands clasped together — taken by REM’s Michael Stipe — and revealed that the image makes her miss the Nirvana frontman ‘deep’ nearly three decades after committing suicide.

In a post on Instagram, Courtney wrote, “I love beautiful hands, it’s the first thing I look at in another. I love that the only photo of Kurt @michaelstipe took, Micheal saw these hands. These left handed beautiful hands as a votive/mudra, a shot of this unique, powerful photo of my twin flame.

“It’s one of the few sights (or sounds/tastes, etc.) that makes me miss him a lot.”

Courtney further revealed that the photo reminds her of the Buddhist the couple used to partake in together and insisted she knows he’s been in an “enlightened place” since his death.

29 years apart: Courtney Love, 58, posted a photo of her late husband Kurt Cobain’s hands that was taken by REM’s Michael Stipe to pay tribute to the fallen rocker, who committed suicide on April 5, 1994

She added, “He sang with me and often, and was really moved by our Buddhist practice. That’s how I know he’s in an enlightened place, more than we do here in Mappo. “The arms of 1,000 Buddhas outstretched to greet you,” says the gosho.

The rocker concluded her post with a Japanese chant from both her and the couple’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, writing, “Nam myoho renge kyo dear Kurt DC… me and we love and miss you… ‘

Cobain was one of the most popular rock musicians of the 1990s thanks to his band Nirvana, which spearheaded the grunge revolution until his untimely death.

The band, which also featured bassist Krist Novoselic and eventual drummer Dave Grohl, scored a number one hit with their second album, 1991’s Nevermind, which has become one of the most influential and popular albums of the decade.

The trio would go on to release another album, the dark but still popular In Utero.

But Cobain suffered from intermittent depression throughout his life, as well as a heroin addiction in his later years.

He died on April 5, 1994, of a self-deflected shotgun, though his body was not discovered for several days.

Cobain and Love had met in the late ’80s or early ’90s and tied the knot in February 1992.

They then welcomed their daughter Frances Bean Cobain in August of that year.

A profile also published in Vanity Fair in 1992 included details of the couple’s dueling heroin addiction, which led the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services to temporarily place Frances in the care of Love’s sister.

Frances also paid tribute to her late father on the anniversary of his death in a since-deleted Instagram Stories post.

“Life is like a wave crashing on the shore and death is like the wave returning to the ocean, back to its most natural state,” she wrote, sharing a previously existing quote.

“I forget where exactly I heard this quote, but hearing it makes loss seem less scary and more like a return to the collective consciousness of loving awareness. Free from pain or human care. Death serves a purpose. It’s what makes life so precious, just as pain has a purpose, because without pain we wouldn’t know joy,” she continued.

“Every day I strive to be thankful for everything that surrounds this life, including loss. It is the ultimate teacher. Hold the people you love a little firmer and a little closer to me today.”
