How to find Refined Metal in Dredge

Refined metal is one of the scarcest materials in the world Dredging, but it is extremely important: it is how you update your hull, which gives your boat more space and stability. You can find it in different places everywhere Dredgingusually well hidden – it is not as readily available as wood planks or cloth.

Where to buy refined metal Dredging

The easiest way to get Refined Metal is to buy it. The traveling merchant who has settled in each of the four archipelagos — twisted strand, Devil’s backbone, Stellar pelvisAnd Gale cliffs – sells it for $500 each. However, she has a limited supply, so you only get one per pontoon before she needs to be refilled. The $500 price tag is a bit hefty in the world of Dredgingbut it is not that difficult to raise the necessary funds.

In addition, the traveling merchant offers you a book by the name during the conversation Art of the silver tongue; this lowers the prices of items she sells and raises the prices on fish she buys. Keep chatting with her and bring her fish and things to fix to get the book, which you then have to read while towing across the ocean. Anyway, go catch some fish and keep selling them to her until you get the money. The Refined Metal is located on the last tab of the Traveling Merchant’s Shipyard menu screen.

But if you’d rather not buy Refined Metal, you can find it everywhere Dredging. Each of the archipelagos has at least one area where you can find Refined Metal. Most are blocked by debris, meaning an extra step is required to collect it. That extra step is Packed Explosives, which you can buy in Ingfell from Gale Cliffs once you complete that area’s storyline. Handy to always have with you, because good stuff can always be found in the closed areas.

The easiest place to find Refined Metal is actually in Gale Cliffs – sail out into the open area and find the waterfall. Head through the waterfall, where you’ll find a chest containing Refined Materials and other goodies. The other simple place, obtainable without explosives, is in the Stellar Basin. West of the southern tip of the westernmost island is a floating treasure chest of fine metal. (It can be hard to see because the chest is underwater, so keep those eyes on the water!)

You need six parts of Refined Metal to upgrade your hull to the maximum level. Because refined metal is so precious, be careful when it’s on board – you could lose it if your boat crashes. My recommendation is to keep it in your onshore storage until you need it.
