He stumbled down Main Street in San Francisco away from Bay Bridge in the early hours of the morning, leaving a trail of blood behind.

After crossing the street, he approached a parked white Toyota Camry with the hazard lights on, which some have speculated may have been a ride he was calling for help.

But after he lifted his shirt and revealed his stab wounds, the car reportedly drove away heartlessly.

Lee then stumbled up the hill and collapsed in front of 403 Main Street, an apartment complex called The Portside.

At some point after the car fled the scene, Lee called 911 and repeatedly begged for help, reportedly screaming to be rushed to a hospital.

According to the Standard, the tech mogul called 911 at 2:34 a.m. and the police were on the scene within six minutes.

However, police said Lee was already unconscious when they arrived, prompting officers to begin CPR on the tech tycoon. Authorities said in a statement that the father of two died after being rushed to hospital.

Although a kitchen knife with a four-inch blade was found in a parking lot across the street, according to ABC7. no arrests or suspects have yet been announced.

At a press conference Wednesday night, SFPD Chief Bill Scott declined to give a motive for the attack, refusing to speculate whether it was targeted or random.

“I have nothing to share yet,” he said. “We don’t want to be premature and we certainly don’t want to speculate, so we’ll think hard about following the evidence and we’ll get out what we’re putting out as quickly as possible.”

SFPD officials have also made targeted efforts to crack down on crime in certain areas of the city prone to incidents.

The San Francisco Police Department is currently short of 541 officers.
