Appearing on This Morning on Thursday, Charlie showed off her blonde locks — and viewers took to Twitter to praise her new look.

The actress was joined on the couch by Richard Armitage to promote their new Netflix show Obsession, but Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary couldn’t resist chatting to her about Happy Valley.

Talking about being part of series three, Charlie said, “It’s so amazing [to be part of] and also to come back to it after seven years and we always knew we would after series two.

“It’s like opening a time capsule and seeing everyone back on set.

“Some people have had kids, some people are with different people, you know, you’re just catching up all the time.

“I just remembered when the cameras were rolling… They said, ‘You have to stop talking about your private life. It’s rolling. You have to start.'”

The Irish actress portrayed the daughter of businessman Nevison Gallagher (George Costigan) on the show.

In series one, Ann was the target of an evil kidnapping plot before joining the police force.

Charlie wore a silk shirt for her TV appearance – worlds away from the police uniform she wore in the hit drama.

She had a bronzed complexion with a radiant make-up look.

This Morning viewers took to social media to flood her TV appearance.

Another added: ‘Great to see the brilliant Charlie Murphy will be on #ThisMorning. She’s a great actor from rtè’s Love/Hate alumni.”

A third chimed in, “The way RA stares at her… Kudos to Miss Murphy for not melting,” and another replied, “Yes.” You could tell they were very attuned to each other.

“I really liked Charlie Murphy (whose work I haven’t really seen until now, even though she’s been in some really big productions for Irish TV).”

Series three ended in February and while many fans expected high-octane, and perhaps even Catherine’s demise, writer Sally Wainwright’s decision to revolve her finale around a 15-minute kitchen table war of words between Tommy and Catherine left viewers in awe.

“A showdown worth waiting for — no guns, no knives, no punches, but a battle of words that Catherine desperately needed to say. Superb work from Sally Wainwright, a tour de fore turn from Sarah Lancashire and a whirlwind of emotion from James Norton. What a finale,” said one viewer.

Others praised Sarah’s performance, with one fan deciding that “she deserves all the BAFTAs, Golden Globes and Oscars and it still won’t be enough.”

“I already feel sorry for any drama or actress against Happy Valley and Sarah Lancashire at next year’s BAFTAs. Forget it, it’s over, you don’t stand a chance,” author Emma Kennedy agreed.

Rosamund Urwin of The Sunday Times commented: ‘I hope the success of Happy Valley means there are loads of commissioned dramas currently being made with women in their 50s as protagonists, especially if they aren’t always likable characters. Sarah Lancashire is just fantastic.’

“Many finals are a letdown, but Happy Valley ended brilliantly.

Another masterclass from Sarah Lancashire and James Norton held up against her. Sally Wainwright’s script, a masterclass in storytelling.’
