Sources close to Chris Eubank furiously deny that he ‘Quit Channel 4’s Scared Of The Dark because he wasn’t allowed to smoke cannabis during filming’
Insiders in Chris Eubank’s camp have denied reports that he quit Channel 4’s upcoming reality TV series Scared Of The Dark because he was banned from smoking cannabis.
The boxer, who has admitted to using the class C drug in the past, was among a group of stars who would live in a pitch-black bunker for eight days in the five-part series.
However, sources of The sun claimed Chris decided to leave the show after getting annoyed when he couldn’t smoke weed in the bunker.
But a source close to Chris has hit back vehemently at these reports to MailOnline.
A source had previously said: ‘Chris was a great draftsman and a really interesting character, but he was very restless and irritable. It just became clear that he couldn’t handle it and wanted out. It seemed like a big deal that he couldn’t smoke his cannabis.
False: Sources close to Chris Eubank have denied reports that he quit Channel 4’s upcoming reality TV series Scared Of The Dark because he was banned from smoking cannabis
“He made it very clear to other people on the show that he wanted to smoke and felt he was allowed to do so, but obviously using illegal drugs on a mainstream TV show just isn’t going to happen.”
Channel 4 told the publication that Chris left the series of his own accord, telling the publication, “It is not true to suggest that anyone was asked to leave the set of Scared of the Dark because they were smoking.”
They added that smoking was strictly prohibited in the building and that stars were kept in the bunker for their entire stay, filmed 24 hours a day by 50 cameras.
MailOnline has contacted a representative for Chris Eubank and Channel 4 for comment.
In social media videos, Chris has previously admitted to smoking cannabis, which is a class B drug and remains illegal in the UK except for limited medical use.
Presented by Danny Dyer, Scared Of The Dark – featuring Chloe Burrows, Paul Gascoigne, Scarlett Moffat, The Wanted singer Max Georg and boxer Nicola Adams – sees the stars locked together for eight days.
For five consecutive nights, the show follows the celebrities as they learn to cope with life in the dark for eight days.
To leave The Bunker, the celebrities simply have to shout ‘I’m Scared of The Dark’ and they are escorted to the light.
Ordeal: The boxer, who has admitted to taking the class C drug in the past, was among a group of eight stars who would live in a pitch-black bunker for eight days in the five-part series
To prove their mettle, each of the celebrities takes on a series of challenges designed to test their primal fear of total darkness or their ability to function in pitch darkness.
Those who are not up to their challenges will have to complete mammoth tasks to maintain their place in the show.
Every celebrity will be motivated to overcome their fears because in the end only one will emerge as the winner of the series.
On hosting, Danny Dyer said, ‘This is possibly one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever done in my career, and I’ve done a lot of crazy things.
Throw in a bunch of celebrities and let them do things with the lights off – it’s really good television.
“You’re going to laugh, you’re going to laugh some more and I promise you’ll love it.”
Scared Of The Dark begins on Channel 4 on April 16.
