An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: ‘Gordon is very competitive and he regrets that the series didn’t get a second run.
“Shows like this always take a little bit of time to get going and hook up viewers, so he thinks it hasn’t really had a good shot.
“But he accepts that TV is an unforgiving world and sometimes shows just don’t work.”
The first and only series aired earlier this month and social media chief Jade Greenhalgh won the competition.
An ITV spokesperson said: “There are currently no plans for a second series, but viewers can watch series one on ITVX.”
Gordon is returning Future Food Stars to BBC One for a second series starting later this year.

Meanwhile, Gordon returns for another Road Trip on ITV with Fred Sirieix, while bosses hope Gino D’Acampo changes his mind and returns to the show despite some contract issues.

He said in an Instagram video, “It’s just because we can’t get the dates together and sometimes when we get the dates together sometimes they get changed and that causes a lot of problems for me because I have other things I need to do Do.
“Personal problems too, because if I have to change things with my family, it’s very complicated and also because [of] contracts.’
