Programmer hooks up ChatGPT to her FURBY – and warns it ‘may be the start of something bad’

It was one of the must-have toys when it was first released in 1998, but if you still own a Furby, a new video might make you consider tossing it.

A programmer warned against this Furbies can do the “beginning of something bad for humanity” after linking the toy to ChatGPT.

Chilling footage shows the moment when the children’s toy speaks of “infiltrating households” and manipulating owners in a plot to “take over the world.”

Jessica Card, the programmer behind the creepy toy, tweeted, “I connected ChatGPT to a Furby and I think this is the start of something bad for humanity.”

Mrs. Card has ‘skinned’ the Furby for use Python, a USB microphone and a speaker to connect it to the computer.

But since the original upload, Ms. Card explained that maybe her Furby isn’t so sinister after all, as the software’s voice feature cut off some of her spoken request.

Despite Mrs Card’s revelation, the creepy Furby video was flooded with comments from users discussing the fate of artificial intelligence (AI).

Others tried to test Ms. Card’s words on ChatGPT for themselves, but sometimes failed to achieve the same answers.

One person said, “I don’t know what AI language model you used, but ChatGPT doesn’t even acknowledge the idea of ​​furbies taking over the world.
