Australians toss oversized American RAM cars for clogging roads and parking lots

Australians have criticized massive US RAM cars for ‘taking over’ Australian roads and ‘stealing car parks’, and are demanding that they be banned.

Several outraged motorists called out owners of “paving princess” commercial vehicles for using their oversized cars to clog roads that were “not designed” for them.

An angry Jaycar customer shared a photo of a RAM car taking up four parking lots outside the electronics store.

“Traditional businesses are now taking up four parking spaces with stupid American trucks,” the irate motorist wrote.

Hundreds of commentators, however, were too quick to disagree that it’s traditions that are causing problems with the big utes.

Many instead blamed “wearing shirt, holding clipboard, pencil pushers” wanting to show off.

“This seems to be the domain of construction site managers and insecure white collar workers,” said one person.

“That thing will probably never see a dustpan let alone a dirty workshop,” another commented.

“If any of my co-workers showed up in this, the pecking would be relentless,” a third wrote.

Another wrote: ‘I don’t understand how these types of trucks are so popular when they are so woefully inept.

Payload sucks, towing power sucks, handling sucks, brakes sucks, off-road capability sucks, fuel economy seems like they’re actively competing for the worst numbers.

“Yet they’re still outrageously expensive and people are falling over themselves buying them.”

RAM, Australia’s largest supplier of US-style pickups, has sold 18,000 US utes to Aussies, Motivation reported in February.

The huge utes can cost up to A$169,990 and come with huge fuel and maintenance costs, making them a status symbol among car owners.

Thousands of Aussies said they were tired of seeing RAM drivers take over multiple parking garages too small for the US vehicles.

“Who the f*** let these pieces of shit into Australia, too long for one car and too wide for two. Four of these and Dan Murphy’s parking lot would be royally screwed,” one wrote.

“I really wish we could just ban them in Australia,” said a second person.

‘Parking garages must have a barrier with a maximum width, just as underground parking garages have a height. If your truck doesn’t fit, park in the nearest paddock and walk to the shops,” another wrote.

“How are these oversized Emotional Support Vehicles legal on Australian roads at all?” commented a fourth.

“No one needs a private vehicle of this size. Absolutely nobody. They should be classed as commercial vehicles to deter people from buying them,” another person wrote.

Others said the big cars are downright “dangerous” and called for stricter rules about who can drive them.

“These things are dangerous. The visibility is terrible and the impact will hit your upper body. These things kill people,” one commenter wrote.

“Why are so many people driving these so crazy aggressive on the road? They’re ridiculous,” commented another.

“These trucks are super dangerous for pedestrians, especially dangerous for children. I don’t know the correct answer, but I think sensible regulation of vehicle size would make life safer for everyone,” a third person wrote.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted RAM for comment.
