Kerri-Anne Kennerley describes the shocking moment a TV boss unzipped her dress at a Christmas party – revealing how she dealt with ‘chauvinism and harassment’ throughout her career

Kerri-Anne Kennerley has described the shocking moment when a television executive unzipped her dress at a well-attended party.

The television veteran shared the horrifying story on Tuesday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Australia, but did not name the head of the offending network or what channel she was working for at the time.

“It was a Christmas party before our show, and as I was standing there the zipper on the back of my dress unzipped,” the 66-year-old said in a piece to the camera.

So when I turned around to basically say stop it and cover for that person, I realized it was the station owner. And I did say zip up or I’ll cover you.’

Kerri-Anne had previously discussed the “boys’ club” on television with her campmate Peter Helliar.

“Chauvinism, harassment, horrible behavior,” she said of some of the men she’d dealt with in her career.

“Executives and producers hitting on the younger girls there. You know, someone hits you and you just draw the line in the sand and everyone goes back to work, that’s just the way it was.’

She continued, “The women were all researchers, producers, and the boys checked yes, yes, and then went to lunch for four hours.

And the show would all come together because most of the women did all the work. Ultimately, you just want to make good TV.

“It was always about getting a job, holding it as long as you can, doing the best you can, and when it’s over, you get another one. You just keep doing it, keep popping up.”
