Bevan Tittums sentenced for Perth stolen car chase in Nissan X-Trail as cop thrown on concrete

The gruesome moment a brave cop was flung from a moving car has been captured on camera as the man behind the wheel is convicted of the harrowing crime.
Bevan Tittums, 33, was found guilty of throwing the officer out of the car, leaving him with a fractured wrist after trying to avoid driving away from a Costco gas station in Perth in November 2021.
The entire chase of Tittums was caught by PolAir after it followed the stolen Nissan X-Trail during the 76-minute chase.
The 33-year-old was jailed for more than three years for wounding the officer and several other crimes committed that day.

It was revealed in court that the gallant officer had broken his wrist after landing on the concrete, which could have killed him if he had landed on his head.
Magistrate Richard Huston told the Perth court it was ‘a miracle there was not a massive loss of life catastrophe’, The Western Australian reported.
Prosecutor Thomas Mooney told the court that the injuries “could have been much worse.”
“Especially if the officer hit his head on the concrete after being thrown from the vehicle,” he said.
Tittums appeared in Perth District Court in March, where the court was told his desperate attempt to evade the law reached speeds in excess of 100 mph.
Footage played in court showed Tittums driving on sidewalks, near playgrounds, ignoring red lights and crashing through a safety post.
The chase finally ended after the blue X-Trail crashed near the Royal Perth Hospital, where officers were eventually able to catch it on foot.

Tittums’ lawyer Les Sanders told the court that her client believed the police were trying to kill him.
“The amount of methamphetamine he was carrying was quite substantial,” Ms Sanders said.
“He was suffering from some kind of drug-induced psychosis, so he thought he could deal with it by taking more drugs.”
Tittums was sentenced to three years and nine months behind bars for wounding the officer, reckless driving, stealing a car, failing to stop and possession of drugs.
He was also given a lifelong driving license disqualification.
