Motorists are facing a nightmare on their way to work after a serious four-car accident on one of Australia’s busiest motorways left at least one person fighting for life.
Emergency services remain at the scene of the crash on the Pacific Motorway at Eight Mile Plains on the outskirts of Brisbane.
The accident, which occurred in a left lane just off Underwood Road at around 6:30 a.m. Monday, has resulted in massive delays to northbound traffic of at least 40 minutes.
At least four people have been checked by paramedics, one of whom is in critical condition.

“It was awful, looked very bad,” wrote a passing motorist.
Queensland Ambulance has since confirmed four patients have been taken to hospital.
Two were rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital, one in critical condition.
The other two were taken to Logan Hospital in stable conditions.
The Forensic Crash Unit is on its way to the crime scene.
Queensland Police urged motorists to avoid the area if possible and follow traffic directions.

Paramedics were later called to a separate two-vehicle accident on Ipswich Motorway near Oxley in south west Brisbane.
Two people have been taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in stable conditions.
Police are urging all motorists to be careful on the road now that the Easter holiday is underway.
