AFL star Adam Cooney says he was “bullied” into appearing on I’m a Celebrity and will “throw up” during eating challenges: “Why would I want to go and eat fish guts?”

Adam Cooney says he wasn’t all that interested in starring in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! Australia.

The AFL star, who played for the Western Bulldogs and Essendon, says his wife, Haylea, and their children “bullied” him into accepting the gig.

‘I didn’t say yes at first, I said no because why would I want to go eat fish guts?’ said the Brownlow medalist the heralding sun on Sunday.

“I was bullied by my wife Haylea and our children. He said it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and he loves the show.

Adam says that he dreads any challenge that involves gross food or high altitudes.

I’ll probably throw up from the food and the challenges,’ the athlete admitted, adding that it would be a ‘shame’ if he was eliminated first.

“Food and heights are my top two (fears), but I’ve been brave before and jumped on a Ferris wheel.”

The 37-year-old married his wife Haylea McCann in 2009 and they have two children, a son Jaxon and a daughter Ashlea.

The celebrities compete for $100,000 to donate to their chosen charity if they win.

The AFL star has played against the Western Bulldogs and Essendon and is a Brownlow medalist.

Stars fighting in the jungle include veteran presenter Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Australian Idol judge Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, MAFS star Domenica Calarco and actress Debra Lawrance.

Peter Helliar of the Project, rAlso participating are reality star Aesha Scott, radio host Woody Whitelaw and celebrity chef Anna Polyviou.

Reality star Nathan Henry, Australian Idol’s Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, Olympian Harry Garside, TV presenter Bianca Hunt and basketball player Liz Ellis also compete in the series.
