Terrifying alleged kidnapping of two young brothers sparks charges against a man, 34, in ‘deeply traumatic incident’
- Young boy, 12, fought alleged assailant in house
- Then he discovered that his brother, 8, was missing
- Both boys are now safe and well after a medical checkup
A man has been charged after a young boy beat him off in an alleged kidnapping where he had already tried to take the child’s younger brother while the family slept.
The terrifying alleged abduction of the two young boys shocked Moora in Western Australia’s wheat belt region on Friday morning.
WA police arrested a 34-year-old man on Friday and charged him with two counts of holding a child under 16, two counts of aggravated burglary, deprivation of liberty, disguise to commit a felony and criminal damage.
They don’t believe he knew the boys.
He will appear before the Perth Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
WA Police Inspector Kareene Santoro said the actions of the 12-year-old boy led to the swift resolution of the “deeply traumatic incident.”
“(His) courage and bravery to get himself out of that situation was tremendous, and it was a really good job of him to immediately warn an adult about what happened,” Inspector Santoro told reporters.

According to police, a man broke into the house on Padbury St through the front door and tried to drag the 12-year-old out around 5am.
But the boy fought back and raised the alarm with an adult in the house.
It was then that they discovered that his eight-year-old brother was missing.
Police searched the area and a short time later, at around 7:10 am, found the 8-year-old boy in a nearby house.
Inspector Santoro said the boy came to the door in ‘a sad state’ but was happy to be found
Both children were taken to hospital for a routine medical check-up.
“He seems to be in a very good mood, has been very brave during the incident and is just happy to be back with his family,” said Inspector Santoro.
This was reported by the Western Australian the boys were looked after by a friend of the family while their father was at work.
