Ohtani unfazed by the pitch clock… as he puts on dominant display

The Angels’ Shohei Ohtani launches the MVP campaign by fanning 10 and giving up just two hits in six scoreless innings against the A’s as Hunter Renfroe makes an AWESOME no-look catch … before the LA bullpen blew the lead in the first game

LA Angels star Shohei Ohtani is unfazed by MLB’s shot clock introduction as the two-way Japanese player, who single-handedly beat Team USA his jersey.

The 28-year-old pitcher’s unusual decision to make his own decisions is tied to the 15-second time limit imposed on pitchers between pitches. And the 2021 AL MVP certainly didn’t disappoint in the Angels’ 2023 Opening Day game against the Oakland A’s on Thursday, pitching 10 strikeouts in six scoreless innings.

Ohtani managed to allow three walks, but the A’s failed to take advantage of the rare opportunities they were given at bat to get on the scoreboard. Ohtani also had two hits, the first allowing him to reach first base.
