Online sleuth reveals how he embarrassed Gwyneth Paltrow lawyers by uncovering crucial evidence
An online detective has revealed how he was able to crack crucial evidence in Gwyneth Paltrow’s ski accident trial and present it to his lawyers.
Michael Fletcher discovered messages confirming that plaintiff Terry Sanderson knew Paltrow was involved in the crash that he claims left him with brain damage that drastically changed his personality.
The exchange throws cold water on Sanderson’s earlier claim that he had no idea the ‘Shakespeare in Love’ actress was the other party involved at the time of the accident.
Fletcher says that he was able to infiltrate the texts in about ‘two minutes’ after learning of their existence while watching CourtTV.
It will no doubt cause embarrassment to the lawyers for Paltrow and Sanderson, who were unable to log into the messages.
Michael Fletcher told the court how he was able to log on to a crucial link which he later sent to Paltrow’s legal team.
The messages between plaintiff Terry Sanderson and eyewitness Craig Ramon pour cold water on Sanderson’s claim that he had no idea who Paltrow was when she hit him.
The legal team had asked Sanderson’s daughter about missing GoPro camera footage from the 2016 collision and lawyers repeatedly called it the “most important piece of evidence.”
She said he emailed her a link to his ski discussion forum on the Meetup website, which was suspected of containing the images.
Paltrow’s legal team had tried to open the link, but claimed it was flawed on purpose, speculating that the images would unequivocally disprove their case.
But Fletcher figured out how to access the link simply by creating an account on the website.
From there, he was unable to find the GoPro footage, but discovered an exchange between Sanderson and the only known eyewitness to the crash, Craig Ramon.
“You couldn’t make this up, Gwyneth eliminated Terry last week,” Ramón wrote in the ‘Meet Up’ chat.
He continued: ‘Last Saturday, your son broke his arm skiing in Park City. Gwyneth was staying at the Montage. She caught her plane at the Millionaire airport. What makes me angry is that Gwyneth eliminated Terry and then left.
Ramon and Sanderson repeatedly denied knowing it was Paltrow in the ski suit.
The chat also made it clear that Ramon believed Paltrow hit Sanderson long before the lawsuit was filed.
Fletcher said he was surprised that Paltrow’s lawyers had not been able to access the messages.
“It’s funny how easy it was,” he told Court TV.
Gwyneth Paltrow leaves the Park City District Court in Park City, UTAH, on Tuesday, March 28.
Paltrow is being sued for more than $300,000 for the 2016 accident at the Deer Valley Resort in Utah.
Paltrow watches as the trial continues today, with her sons’ ski instructor testifying.
‘They kept repeating that it’s the most important test, and they couldn’t figure it out. They had no idea how to open the link.
He added: ‘Like, I can’t believe they haven’t done this already. It’s almost a joke,” she added.
‘All I did was create a login for the website. If it’s a website that requires a login, you can’t access anything without a login… then the link works. It’s simple.’
Fletcher works as a technology researcher, but insisted that his trick did not require any special skills, adding that he just had “a bit of common sense”.
Sanderson, 76, is suing Paltrow for more than $300,000 over the 2016 accident at the Deer Valley Resort in Utah. He initially sought $3.1 million.
Paltrow is countersuing him for $1 claiming he ran into her.
He claims the movie star was recklessly skiing and that the incident left him with permanent brain damage and four broken ribs.
On Tuesday, the trial continued and saw a ski instructor who was teaching Paltrow’s children on the day of the accident take the stand.
Keri Oaks denied Sanderson’s claims that Paltrow left him alone after the accident without checking to see if he was okay.
“When she was first getting up because she was so shocked and shocked, he hit her,” Oaks told the court.
‘When she got up, she checked him, then he checked her. I think she was there most of the time.
Terry Sanderson, 76, claims the accident left him with permanent brain damage that drastically altered his personality. He appears in court on Tuesday.
Oaks also revealed that Paltrow’s children asked her to watch them ski in the moments before the collision.
She said: ‘Moses and Apple wanted their mother to take care of them. The run was clear so we went across the run. We crossed, we did two laps and that’s when I heard the sound and looked up and saw that they had crashed.
She added: “It was ‘mommy look at me,’ we want you to see this.”
