Manchester City are monitoring Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga as they look to bolster their midfield options this summer.

The 20-year-old is being watched by a host of European giants after an impressive season in La Liga and City are keeping an eye on his development.

Veiga is said to have a £35m release clause in his contract, which has drawn the attention of the likes of Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola wants reinforcements in the central areas for next season, with the future of Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva up in the air.

Gundogan, the club’s captain, has strong interest from Barcelona and his contract at the Etihad Stadium expires this year.

Veiga has nine goals for Celta Vigo this term and Guardiola is hoping to add more firepower from midfield in future.

Celta president Carlos Mourino admitted this week that the club is powerless to prevent Veiga, a product of the academy, from leaving in the coming months.

Mourino claimed that four Premier League teams had already expressed interest.

“We don’t want to sell Gabri Veiga, but they are going to buy him from us. And we can’t do anything there,” Mourino said.

We know some of their offers and it is impossible to reach them.
