A mother is furious after her defenseless seven-year-old daughter was allegedly viciously beaten on a playground by a teenage girl.
A disturbing video taken on March 26 in Cairns, North Queensland, shows the girl, who is in Year 2, climbing on the playground equipment while a group of older girls stand nearby.
One of the older girls allegedly hit the child repeatedly and then stomped on her head. The other older girls run off while the younger one can be heard screaming.
Detectives from the Cairns Child Protection and Investigation Unit have charged a 13-year-old girl with assault resulting in bodily harm.
She will appear before the Cairns Children’s Court at a later date.

The girl’s mother said she was “disgusted” by the alleged incident and also that the video had been shared online.
“You just never want that to happen and it feels so far out of your control,” she shared The Cairns Post.
“If anyone sees something like this circulating online, or even personally watching events like this, I really advise people to go straight to the authorities.”
She said her daughter has bruises on her head but is recovering well.
“She’s a tough cookie… Ultimately, I want her to understand that this isn’t normal and definitely not okay.”
She said she rushed her daughter to the emergency room when she came home with a bruise on her head.
The local community has supported the family by dropping off gifts, including teddy bears, and the school has been in touch saying they are willing to be flexible with her classes while she recovers.
The girl’s mother said she spoke out because she wanted people to know it wasn’t okay to film alleged violent incidents rather than step into them, let alone share them online.
The girl’s mother is furious that her daughter was allegedly attacked, but also that the video was filmed and posted online instead of bystanders rushing to help her daughter
