MAFS final vows: Duncan James on his ‘traumatic’ last month with wife Alyssa

MAFS star Duncan James has spoken about his “traumatic” past month with wife Alyssa Barmonde before he broke up with her in the final vows on Sunday.

The 36-year-old sales manager brutally dumped the single mother, 35, after she blamed him for her marital problems and said she needed to “change” to make things work.

Speaking in additional today The morning after the episode aired, Duncan explained his reasons for ending the relationship, admitting that it was not an easy decision to make.

“In my opinion, we didn’t see relationships in the same way,” he told co-hosts David Campbell and Sylvia Jeffreys.

“I don’t think we resolve conflicts in the same way and I don’t think we communicate in the same way.”

‘But it was a very difficult decision. There were also a lot of good moments,” he added.

The cyber security specialist also said that Alyssa’s vows and her desire to stay with him after the experiment surprised him after what had been a difficult few weeks.

“We had a really traumatic month before that,” he said.

“On our final dates, I asked multiple times, ‘Do you think the last month has been good or bad? Because if you think it’s been bad, but it’s because of the experiment, I could understand.”

“But if you think it’s been great, then we’re in different places in terms of what we think a healthy relationship looks like.”
