One Nation MP Mark Lathan has taken Climate 200 founder Simon Holmes to court in a tense TV interview on election night.
During the audacious standoff, Mr Latham called the Australian businessman ‘an utter con artist’.
His comments came as he claimed that the Teals should declare themselves as a political party after asking who chose their five candidates.
“You can’t answer that question because you’re a complete con artist, you are,” Latham claimed.
Court judge Mr Holmes admitted that none of the five teal candidates funded by Climate 200 were likely to win.
“We’ll be very happy if some of these seats become marginal,” he said.
NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham and former Labour, became One Nation MP Tania Mihailuk after a press conference outside Canterbury Bankstown Council Chambers
“Most of these chairs haven’t changed hands in a generation or two. So real competition in these seats and the community engaged in politics, that’s a win before we start.”
The coalition government has 45 seats – 33 for the Liberals and 12 for the Nationals, Labor 36, the Greens three, while there are nine independents, including two former Liberal MPs.
Labor went into Saturday’s election and needed to win at least nine seats to claim government.
But Newspoll’s bi-party vote of 54.5-45.5 represents a 6.5% swing against the coalition, which would give Labor up to 10 extra seats.
That would give Labor the 47 seats for a majority without the support of the cross bench, but a uniform result is doubtful.
In another boost for Labour, Mr Minns has scored a two-point lead as preferred prime minister over Mr Perrottet for the first time in this Newspoll.
