A bottle shop security guard who worked near the scene where a BWS employee was killed was allegedly struck on the head with a glass bottle just hours before the young employee died.
The Beachfront Hotel security guard was on duty at the Rapid Creek bottle shop in north Darwin on March 19 when he was called just after 6pm to help stop an alleged robbery.
The guard had been trying to stop the three teenagers – aged 15, 16 and 17 – when he was allegedly hit on the head with a 700ml rum glass bottle.
The guard was rushed to hospital with blood streaming down his face and required 12 stitches — six across his forehead and six more in his left ear.
The alleged trio of thieves fled the scene but were arrested by NT Police the next day.

Daily Mail Australia contacted The Beachfront Hotel and Bottleshop, but they declined to comment.
The guard’s journey to the hospital was just hours before BWS employee Declan Laverty was reportedly killed during the last minutes of his shift at the Airport Tavern in Jingili at 9 p.m. on March 19.
The guard’s fiancee commented on her partner’s gory photos and paid tribute to Mr. Laverty.
Rest in peace to the young fellow [Declan],’ she wrote.
Mr Laverty was allegedly murdered by 19-year-old Keith Kerinauia, who was due to appear in court for the first time on Tuesday.
Since the alleged robberies, the company that owns BWS, Endeavor Group, has said all 16 of its Northern Territory would close at 6pm with immediate effect.

After meeting with Mr. Laverty’s parents, Steve Donohue, CEO of the Endeavor Group, said the company was changing things in the NT.
“Guidance is available for them and our team members, and we will provide further support in the coming days and weeks,” said Mr Donohue.
