Porsche executive Wolfgang Porsche is set to divorce his partner of 16 years, who is known to suffer from a dementia-like illness.
Sources close to the couple said Porsche, 79, has had trouble living with his wife, 74, due to changes in her behavior since she was diagnosed.
Claudia, who is a grandmother, has four caregivers who take care of her 24 hours a day, having suffered from the disease for the last two years.
He has reportedly been unable to move independently for months and his mental awareness has been in rapid decline.
Wolfgang and Claudia have been together since 2007 and married in 2019. The Porsche family’s assets have been estimated at EUR20bn (£18bn).

Media report in Germany that Wolfgang has been getting closer to his friend of 25 years, Gabriela Prinzessin zu Leiningen, 59, in recent months.
Gabriela, also known as Inaara Aga Khan, was born in Frankfurt am Main in April 1963.
Like Porsche’s wife, Claudia, he studied law in Munich and Cologne.
She married Prince Karl-Emich zu Leiningen in 1991, but the couple divorced in 1998.
Later that year she married 86-year-old Swiss Karim Aga Khan IV, the 49th Imam of the Nizaris Ismailis, considered a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad.
The couple divorced in 2014.
Since 1999, Gabriela has been involved in a number of third world development projects, promoting self-sufficiency and offering relief in case of natural disasters.
Since 2004 she has been actively involved in the work to combat AIDS, supporting the German AIDS Foundation.

Wolfgang Heinz Porsche is a German-Austrian shareholder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche Automobil Holding SE as well as Porsche AG.
The Stuttgart-born executive is the youngest son of former designer and Porsche AG CEO Ferdinand ‘Ferry’ Porsche and Dorothea Reitz.
His grandfather was Ferdinand Porsche, the Austro-Bohemian founder of Porsche AG.
His older brother is Ferdinand ‘Butzi’ Porsche, who designed the first Porsche 911.
He has four children, two from director and screenwriter Susanne Bresser, to whom he was married from 1988 to 2008.
Porsche lives in Zell am See, in Austria.
