‘I escaped from Covid for three years but now I have it!’ Tim Burton walks out of the opening of his own exhibition in Malaysia as he apologizes to fans

Tim Burton has withdrawn from attending the opening ceremony of his own exhibition after testing positive for COVID-19.

The 64-year-old filmmaker was due to appear at the Pavillion shopping center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to present The World of Tim Burton on Tuesday, featuring more than 540 items from his personal collection.

But in a YouTube video posted that day, Tim told fans that he hopes they enjoy the show and that he will do his best to visit after his recovery.

He had charged devotees MYR500 (£91.16) for VIP packages, which included a copy of The Art Of Tim Burton book, as well as a book signing session and other merchandise.

However, VIP ticket holders have now been offered a virtual masterclass, which has been postponed to April 14, along with a 10-minute meet and greet instead.
