Man stabbed on Melbourne’s Bourke Street as assailants remain at large

Peak hour horror in Melbourne as a man is stabbed in broad daylight on one of the city’s most iconic streets and rushed to hospital as the attacker flees on foot

A man has been stabbed during rush hour in Melbourne’s CBD as the unknown assailants fled on foot.

Emergency services were alerted to Bourke Street around 3:35pm on Wednesday after reports of an altercation.

The perpetrators are believed to have fled on foot and on scooters.

A police spokesman said the man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It comes just days after a teenager was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a stabbing on a bus in Fitzsimons Lane, Templestowe.

The 16-year-old was discharged on Friday morning and police confirmed his alleged attacker was a fugitive and no charges had been brought.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to contact police immediately.
