Where is Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter Dannielynn Birkhead now?

Dannielynn Birkhead was just five months old when her mother Anna Nicole Smith died of a prescription drug overdose on February 8, 2007 at the age of 39.

Anna Nicole rose to early fame as a model for Guess magazine and Playboy before later rising to prominence through her marriage to 89-year-old oil magnate J. Howard Marshall when she was just 26.

But while her American mother – whose roller coaster life mirrored the tragic circumstances of Anna Nicole’s heroine Marilyn Monroe – was no stranger to fame, Dannielynn prefers to shun the spotlight.

In May 2021, her father and Anna told Nicole’s ex Larry Birkhead TMZ that his 16-year-old daughter has turned down several modeling and acting gigs over the years.

American celebrity photographer Larry, 50, said acting is really not Dannielynn’s “thing” and admitted that she has no manager or modeling portfolio and prefers to stay out of the limelight.

However, the father-daughter duo makes an exception for Janet Jackson concerts, adorable Instagram snaps shared together on Larry’s public social media page, and the Kentucky Derby.

The annual US horse racing event is a fixture on the pair’s calendar and holds a special place in the family’s heart, as Larry met Anna there in 2004 when she was photographed wearing a famous pink hat.

At the time of Dannielynn’s birth, Anna Nicole insisted that the child’s father was her attorney Howard K Stern and that his name be placed on the birth certificate.

But after her death in a Florida hotel room in 2007, Larry managed to successfully prove he was Dannielynn’s father and secure custody, leading her to live with him in Kentucky.

Anna Nicole’s marriage to billionaire Marshall should have entitled the former model to a portion of his fortune, part of which would go to Dannielynn.

But despite being regularly touted as one of the richest kids in America, Dannielynn was not entitled to any portion of Marshall’s estate following a 2014 court case that ruled that Anna Nicole’s estate would inherit nothing from her late husband.

Speak against Inside edition in 2017 Larry said, “We saw a video on YouTube that she was one of the 10 richest kids in America. Then she wanted to go to the mall. And I’m like, “No, it’s not. Trust me, it’s not.”

On the program, Larry also took the opportunity to deny claims that there had been a split with Anna Nicole’s mother, Virgie Arthur.

He said, “I’ve never talked about that before, but I get hurt by that headline. Anna’s mom has been seeing Dannielynn, she’s seen her a few times. I only say that because I want the story to end.

“Anna’s mom wants to see Dannielynn, she knows how to get a hold of me and she can always call me.”

Despite her famous mother, Dannielynn lives a normal life in Louisville, Kentucky, where she reportedly enjoys singing and dancing.

Three days after Dannielynn’s birth, Anna Nicole’s 20-year-old son from her first marriage, Daniel, died of a drug overdose.

Larry said, “I think she died of a broken heart because of her son. She never recovered.’

Anna Nicole was performing in a strip club when she met aging oil magnate J Howard Marshall, and became an instant sensation after being on the cover of Playboy and replacing Claudia Schiffer as a model for Guess jeans.

She married Marshall in 1994 – she was 26 to 89 – and his death a year later sparked a lengthy court battle between Anna Nicole and the Marshall family over the tycoon’s £1 billion estate.

She started dating Larry, a photographer, in 2004, “but it wasn’t an easy relationship,” he admitted in the 2013 documentary Life After Anna Nicole.

‘She had an entourage and that sometimes got in the way, but I loved her and we talked about getting married. I was just a guy – I never thought I’d have a chance with Anna Nicole Smith, but we ended up having a kid together.”

To maintain Anna Nicole’s status as a sex symbol, she insisted they keep their relationship a secret, only letting Larry know that he was going to be a father via text message.

“But I really wanted to be there for the birth,” he said. “I introduced myself in the delivery room and I thought the worst that could happen was that I was going to pass out. I was so wrong.’

Without warning, Anna Nicole left for the Bahamas with her lawyer, Howard K Stern, and a few months later, in September 2006, gave birth to Dannielynn — news that Larry only learned after paying a subscription to access the website of AnnaNicole.

‘I planned to be present at the delivery, but one day it was taken away from me. It was a mystery when she left. I never saw her again, so we had no closure of any kind.”

Larry had become embroiled in a custody battle over Dannielynn after several men came forward claiming to be the father, including Anna Nicole’s lawyer Howard K Stern, a previous boyfriend Mark Hatten and, most bizarrely, Zsa Zsa Gabor’s husband Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, who claimed to have had a ten-year affair with her.

“I didn’t care that Anna wanted to keep our relationship a secret, but when I had to prove paternity, things got tough. I only had about 20 pictures of us together, but I could have been a fan, anyone.’

Finally, while Dannielynn was living with Stern in the Bahamas, DNA testing confirmed that Larry was the father. “I haven’t seen my daughter for months, but I have her now and that’s all that matters.”

Although he insists he wants to keep Dannielynn out of the limelight, Larry has her do a photo shoot for Guess jeans just like her mother. “Dannielynn loves the Guess photos of Anna,” he said, “it’s like a connection with her. However, it’s not normal.’

Larry insists their daughter just wants to be her own person, but still takes comparisons to her mother as a compliment, despite it getting tiresome at times.

Her dad also admitted to TMZ that he’s not sure if the offers they’ve received have to do with her striking resemblance to her mom or the fact that she’s actually the daughter of the quintessential blonde bombshell, but they’ll be either way also rejected.

Larry said that Dannielynn is more concerned with doing her homework than fame as she is interested in art, animation and drawing.

She showed acting chops before, according to her father, but ultimately decided not to go through with it.

However, the door isn’t completely closed as Larry told the publication that she would definitely have a role in either Stranger Things or The Mandalorian.
