Coronation Street fan favourite leaves the cobbles in shock exit

Coronation Street serial killer Stephen Reid left Carla Connor for dead during Friday’s episode.

Underworld boss Carla (Alison King) was seen lashing out at Stephen (Todd Boyce) in another drug-fueled outburst, with a temporary departure for the character airing at the end of the ITV soap installment.

The villainous Stephen has been slowly drugging his boss in an attempt to take over the Underworld underwear factory, but after she once again undermined him, he retaliates by pouring tea on him.

When a disheveled Carla decided that she might need to go back on her antipsychotic medication, she headed to her room to take a nap, as a sinister Stephen entered.

Sneaking into the kitchen unnoticed, a cunning Stephen lit the grill in hopes of causing a massive explosion.

As huge flames erupted from the open oven downstairs, smoke began to encircle Carla as she slept upstairs.

Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was seen drowning while traversing the property in an attempt to stop Hell.

Carla was completely unaware of the chaos that threatened her life in her sleep, having taken prescription diazepam to help her with her perceived mental health issues, believing she was suffering from psychosis again after an earlier breakdown without knowing that Stephen was drugging her.

However, Stephen had been drugging her for weeks and this time he entered her house after taking her factory keys.

Fortunately, Carla’s partner, Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), had asked Roy to check on her.

Roy hastily woke Carla up and she insisted that she hadn’t even used the oven before she went to sleep.

The incident left her making plans to check into a mental health facility in an attempt to recover from whatever illness she may have been suffering from.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street will be rocked by a shocking death next week, leaving Evelyn Plummer devastated.

Will Evelyn and Roy be able to patch things up?

Speaking about the upcoming episodes, actress Maureen said: “It’s really sad. I had to say goodbye to my real dog on Zoom, so it wasn’t too hard to imagine this.

“I really liked Cerberus, Boss is his name and he is a lovely dog, very sweet in nature and an incredibly beautiful hound.” Gorgeous. It was as if he had a feeling that he was being written! He was kind of off for a couple of days. He was brave and that saddened him even more.

Asked if Evelyn and Roy can move on, he added: “Look, she goes and pays money for a cup of tea she could make at home at Roy’s, quite often, so she wants to spend time with him.”

‘Roy understands about the duel. He understands where she’s coming from, it doesn’t take much convincing because she knows where he’s best buttered her bread. She feels sorry for him and sends him to Coventry for a while.

‘Evelyn is a big believer in bottling and not complaining, no one gives her much sympathy. She goes ahead like she would.

“When you lose a dog it’s like losing a husband or a partner, all the routines have to change and nobody wants a miserable bastard so she feels like she has to learn not to think about it too much and get on with her life.”
