John Fury says boxing fans are WRONG to turn on Anthony Joshua after back-to-back losses and insists the Brit’s “best is yet to come”…and still hopes a super fight with his son Tyson will happen if AJ can get back in winning shape

  • John Fury believes boxing fans should not turn on Anthony Joshua
  • Fury still thinks the best is yet to come from the former heavyweight champion
  • Joshua returns to the ring next month to face Jermaine Franklin at 02 London.

John Fury has urged fans to get behind Anthony Joshua after public perception of the heavyweight changed after back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua will return to the ring for the first time since his loss to Usyk on April 1 when he fights Jermaine Franklin at London’s O2 Arena.

Tickets for the fight failed to capture the attention of fans and there are still thousands of seats to fill for the event, despite Joshua selling out the 20,000-capacity venue numerous times in the past.

I would suggest there is a lack of interest in Joshua at the moment, but Tyson Fury’s father has sent a message to fans to get behind the former heavyweight champion as he begins his fight back to the top.

“Listen, AJ is a great guy, the fans shouldn’t turn on him and if they do, then it’s wrong.” fury said The express.

Public perception of Anthony Joshua seems to have changed after his last two losses.

‘AJ has given the crowd great nights and they should root for the man.

Let me tell you this, the best is yet to come from AJ so the fans should get behind him and make him win again and make the super fight once Tyson finishes the Ukrainian rabbit.

It’s the biggest fight in boxing, absolutely. It is bigger than Usyk. Joshua and Tyson are still a great fight. So, I urge fans to get behind the man, don’t kick him when he’s down.

Joshua vs. Fury is still the fight boxing fans want to see, but there are no signs that the parties will agree to a bout at this time. Fury believes Joshua should have saved his comeback fight for a bigger name, stating that his opponent is not well known enough in the UK.

Adding: ‘If his name was Anthony Fury, he’d be selling them, wouldn’t he? But unfortunately, his name is Anthony Joshua and it’s an incredible fight.

I’m just being honest. You know, who knows Jermaine Franklin around here? He’s a good fighter but he’s nameless and he’s a ‘D’ level fighter.

Joshua apologized earlier this year for his actions after his loss to Usyak last August.

The 33-year-old went on a bizarre tirade after their rematch in Saudi Arabia, with Joshua’s place at the top seemingly hanging in the balance after a third career loss.

However, since then, the heavyweight has recruited a new trainer in Derrick James as he looks to get his career back on track by defeating Franklin in the crucial clash next month.

Meanwhile, a date for Tyson Fury’s showdown with Usyak has yet to be confirmed, but reports suggest all signs point to a meeting between the two on April 29 at Wembley Stadium, after the Ukrainian accepted the offer. Fury’s 70/30 split offer.
