It was billed as a Friday night blockbuster and certainly delivered like fireworks when tempers flared between Geelong and Collingwood at the MCG.
A fast-paced first quarter, in which 11 goals were shared between the two heavyweights, ended with handbags as players from both teams faced the siren.
Irishman Zach Tuohy, who contributed two goals for his team on St. Patrick’s Day, was at the center of the fight when he engaged in a shoving match with his counterpart.
As he was being escorted away from the confrontation, his sweater was completely torn and needed to be replaced by the backroom staff.
More than 85,000 fans flocked to the MCG for a huge duel between two teams that delivered one of the best finals of last season.

On that occasion, the Cats outscored their rivals by six points and won the premiership after dominating Sydney in the grand final.
Craig McRae’s team is back with a vengeance and hopes to improve this season, while the Cats are under new leadership after the retirement of captain Joel Selwood. Patrick Dangerfield now leads the team.
A cool head prevailed for the Feet, who clinched a 125-103 win over the Cats, though a nasty injury to defenseman Jeremy Howe threatened to dampen spirits.
