Good Morning Britain is slammed for drawing attention to Patsy Kensit’s ‘£1million’ engagement ring
Good Morning Britain has come under fire for “inappropriately” drawing attention to Patsy Kensit’s engagement ring while interviewing the actress on Friday.
Kensit, 55, a mother of two, announced her engagement to millionaire real estate mogul Patric Cassidy after their romantic proposal on an idyllic beach abroad in February.
The ring, believed to be an oval-shaped 12-carat diamond worth more than £1 million, was evident when the actress, who has been married four times, spoke about her new role on the BBC soap opera EastEnders with Kate Garraway.
Coming to the end of her interview, the presenter couldn’t resist referencing the exquisite piece of jewelry, telling Kensit: ‘I’m so distracted by that huge diamond ring! I’m blinded by it!
But the prank fared poorly with viewers of the ITV breakfast show, with one faction immediately airing their grievances on Twitter.
Unnecessary: Good Morning Britain has come under fire for “inappropriately” drawing attention to Patsy Kensit’s engagement ring while interviewing the actress on Friday.
There it is: the ring, believed to be an oval-shaped 12-carat diamond worth more than £1 million, was evident when the actress opened up about her new role on BBC soap EastEnders.
Congratulations! Kensit revealed that she had said ‘yes’ to his millionaire real estate mogul’s lover, Patric Cassidy, after he knelt on the beach in February.
‘Is it really wise for @gmb to show @patsy_kensit’s engagement ring on national TV?!?!’ Read an exasperated tweet.
‘Was it relevant to the interview? There are a LOT of horrible people out there who wouldn’t think twice about targeting someone who has a lot of money hanging on their finger.’
In response, a second added: “I guess she uses it most of the time, but I accept your point that Kate didn’t need to bring it up and it seemed irrelevant to the conversation.” You can offer congratulations without saying that you are blinded by the ring.
“Patsy herself posted it on her Instagram page a few weeks ago and it was picked up by newspapers and celebrity magazines,” a third noted.
Clarifying his initial point, one tweeter added: ‘Ok. My tweet was based more on the fact that people know that she is using it right now and they also know her location. GMB is live.

Dazzling: Coming to the end of her interview, the host couldn’t resist referencing the exquisite piece of jewelry
Not happy: But his prank fared poorly with viewers of the ITV breakfast show, and one faction immediately aired their grievances on Twitter.
Sparkling: Kensit has been open about revealing the ring and previously showed it off in an Instagram video following Cassidy’s proposal.
In September, rumors began to circulate that the actress and Patric were already engaged.
It is said that she accepted a proposal from her lover after he got down on one knee during a fish dinner. MailOnline contacted Kensit for comment at the time.
Kensit was first married in 1988 when she was 22 to Dan Donovan of the 1980s pop group Big Audio Dynamite, but they separated in 1991.
A year later, she married Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr, but they divorced in 1995.
In 1997, Patsy was married to Oasis singer Liam Gallagher. They broke up in 2000 and it was nine years before she walked down the aisle again, this time marrying ’90s DJ Jeremy Healy. They broke up just a year later.
In August 2010, the actress, who is mother to sons James, 27, and Lennon, 21, with ex-partners Jim and Liam, vowed not to remarry after splitting with her fourth husband.
She said the breakup with DJ Healy left her feeling “silly and ashamed” as well as sinking her into depression.
Patsy also described the split in April after a year of marriage as “embarrassing and humiliating”.
She said at the time: ‘This year has been really horrible. I lost my confidence and went from eight stones to 11. I am wishing now, with a million percent conviction, that I will definitely not get married again.’
Hard to miss: The element was glaring: Patsy opened up about her career after signing on for a new role on EastEnders.
