Sir Jim Ratcliffe has arrived in Manchester for talks with Man United bosses as the billionaire tries to wow officials with his vision for the club.
Britain’s richest man was pictured at Old Trafford on Friday after landing in the city to discuss his potential takeover with club officials as he competes with a group of Qatari bidders, led by Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, who made his presentation on Thursday.
Ratcliffe, owner of Ligue 1 side Nice and director of INEOS, a partner of the Mercedes F1 team, was photographed arriving at Old Trafford and being greeted by chief executive Richard Arnold.
Sportsmail reported that talks between Al Thani’s representatives and United bosses went on for around ten hours and were positive as they toured Old Trafford and their Carrington training complex.
Al Thani has now been invited to make a second offer for United and has ten days to make the offer as he looks to take control of the club from the Glazers, who have owned the Red Devils since 2005.
Ratcliffe will now hope to convince United that his offer is the best way forward. He will be joined in the talks by ex-Team Sky and British cycling’s supreme leader Sir Dave Brailsford, Ineos owners Andy Currie and John Reece, and Ineos Chairman and CEO Rob Nevin and Jean Claude Blanc. .
