His appearance comes after ITV revealed that its dedicated children’s channel CITV will shut down at the end of this year after nearly two decades of entertaining young viewers.

Cat rose to fame alongside Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly on SMTV: Live when CITV shows aired on ITV, fronting the iconic show from 1998 to 2001.

Prior to its launch as a dedicated channel in 2006, CITV was the brand used to broadcast children’s afternoon programmes, first used in 1983.

The channel has been home to iconic shows like Jungle Run, The Worst Witch, and Art Attack.

But now, ITV is planning to move its entire slate of children’s programs programming to its new streaming platform ITVX, with a dedicated destination called ITVX Kids.

Explaining their decision, ITV bosses revealed that the average number of minutes of television broadcast from children’s TV channels watched per week by children aged 4-15 has fallen by 62% since 2019.
