A number of Tottenham legends have proclaimed themselves Manchester City fans in a hilarious new ad from Paddy Power.

With Spurs rivals Arsenal leading the Premier League by five points behind Manchester City, fans and former players fear their north London neighbors will win the title.

Cleverly playing on that fear, Paddy Power’s new advert features a number of familiar faces connected to Spurs giving their ‘for life’ support to second placed City.

Glenn Hoddle begins amusingly, proclaiming to be a ‘man and boy’ Manchester City fan as he flips through his Manchester-based record collection and calls indie rockers The Charlatans ‘Plastic Mancs’, while denying his dislike for Arsenal because Man City is ‘mint’.

Next, and ready to steal the show, former Spurs striker Teddy Sheringham channels his inner brother Gallagher by dressing and talking like he just stepped out of Britpop Manchester in 1996.

Calling the reporter ‘our son’, Sheringham says he has never heard of Arsenal and City just need to ‘move on’ in the Premier League title race.

Not to be outdone, Gerry Francis, who managed the club during the ’90s, is billed as having the best hair in football and is sitting in a Manchester pub wearing a bucket hat.

Francis remembers being the only citizen in town, struggling to remember which local places to mention and professing his love for the Vimto drink.

Finally, in the amusing ending to the ad, Darren Anderton, with the tagline “he won a trophy at Spurs, a real trophy”, admits that he wants Manchester City to win the league, but not because he’s a City fan, but because ” f* ***** hates Arsenal’.

Arsenal regained their lead at the top of the Premier League with a comfortable 3-0 win over Fulham on Sunday, thanks to goals from Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard.

Manchester City edged past Crystal Palace on Saturday thanks to a second-half Erling Haaland penalty, but remain five points clear at the top of the table.

The two teams meet at the Etihad at the end of April in what could turn into a Premier League title shootout.
