Tottenham Hotspur have started talks with Harry Kane over a new deal, in a bid to prevent their top scorer from leaving the club this summer.
Kane scored twice in Spurs’ 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, to take his total to 22 goals for the season, with only Erling Haaland scoring more in the Premier League.
The England captain is fast approaching the last 12 months of his current contract, and the Tottenham hierarchy is desperate to keep their prized asset at the club beyond his current contract.
Tottenham are not currently contemplating selling Kane, but the 29-year-old is among one of Manchester United’s top options for their centre-back role, with Bayern Munich remaining suitors for the forward since a long time ago.

Daniel Levy does not contemplate selling Kane this summer and would demand 100 million pounds
Daniel Levy will be reluctant to sanction any deal that sees Kane leave the club this summer, and will want a minimum of £100m for the striker, a price that could inflate further for a Premier League rival.
A move to United is said to be in the interest of Kane, who is desperate to add some silverware to his array of goal-scoring records, and would not need to move his young family to another country.
Remaining in the Premier League would also allow him to continue chasing Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring record.
With Kane currently at 203 and looking to surpass Shearer’s record of 260 goals.
Kane’s decision could also depend on who will be Tottenham’s boss next season. Antonio Conte’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and while there is an option for another 12 months, there is a chance he could leave at the end of the campaign.
The Italian has been linked with a return to Serie A, while Spurs have reportedly drawn up a list of possible replacements if, in the event that Conte leaves at the end of the season.
