Manchester United striker Alejandro Garnacho left Old Trafford on crutches after his team’s 0-0 draw with Southampton.
The 18-year-old has been a revelation for Erik ten Hag’s side this season, having been promoted from the club’s academy.
But he could spend some time on the sidelines after being taken off in stoppage time despite coming onto the field in the 73rd minute against the Saints.
Garnacho was seen wearing a protective gray boot and aided by two crutches as he left the stadium after his right ankle was caught by a challenge from Kyle Walker-Peters.
However, Ten Hag has downplayed the youngster’s injury, insisting the team needed more attacking players after seeing Garnacho hobble.

Erik ten Hag says that the injury is not that serious despite the fact that Garnacho leaves on crutches
“I was limping a bit after a bad tackle, so in the end I thought I’d bring in another striker as we were down to 10 men.” I don’t think (the injury) is that serious,” said the United manager.
If Garnacho faces a long period on the sidelines, it would be a blow to United, who have Europa League and FA Cup games next week.
Ten Hag’s team no longer featured Donny van de Beek, Christian Eriksen, Marcel Sabitzer and Anthony Martial on Sunday.
Midfielder Casemiro will also miss the club’s next four home games after receiving his second red card of the season against Southampton.
United will return to action on Thursday against Real Betis in the Europa League before traveling to Fulham next weekend.
