MAFS: Claire is the niece of jailed ‘creep’ woman basher Tasi Nomarhas
The uncle of Married At First Sight star Claire Nomarhas was jailed for brutally assaulting his childhood friend when she rejected his advances.
Tasi Nomarhas, 50, the brother of Claire’s father Lee, was sentenced in 2021 to four years and six months in jail for the crime, which left his victim with depression, anxiety and needing plastic surgery.
The kindergarten assistant, 31, condemned her uncle as a ‘woman basher’ a year after his conviction, in a since-deleted social media comment.
Mr Nomarhas had a five-year-old post on his Facebook account under which he’d commented at the time, ‘Full of life and a good sense of humour.’
Claire commented below the post in 2022: ‘Full of s**t. And a woman basher.’ The comment has since been removed.

According to the Whittlesea Leader, Mr Nomarhas started groping his friend as they were watching TV after he offered to help with her gardening in September 2018.
The victim, a friend going back to his school days, told him to stop.
When Mr Nomarhas then asked her to join him at his mother’s house, she initially agreed but then changed her mind, sending him into a furious rage.
Mr Nomarhas headbutted her five times times when the victim tried to leave. She was then forced into her kitchen, where she was punched multiple times in the face and strangled, dropping in and out of consciousness.
The court heard Mr Nomarhas screamed he was going to kill her.

The victim eventually managed to lock herself in the bathroom, whereupon Mr Nomarhas smashed windows and stole her jewellery before leaving the house.
Her injuries were so serious they required plastic surgery, left her with impaired vision and headaches, and she lost her sense of taste.
In a victim impact statement, she spoke of living in fear since the assault and being diagnosed with depression and PTSD.
Mr Nomarhas pleaded guilty in the Melbourne County Court, having been charged with recklessly causing injury, property damage and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
Judge Justin Hannebery sentenced him to four and a half years in jail with a non-parole period of three years and three months.
It comes after a MAFS bride from last year’s season, Samantha Moitzi, revealed she was related to notorious murderer Ivan Milat – though her family link to the ‘backpack killer’ was not addressed on the show.
The Gold Coast-based fashion brand manager, 27, left producers and her on-screen ‘husband’ Al Perkins stunned when she revealed during filming she was the granddaughter of Ivan’s younger sister Shirley Soire.
Samantha apparently broke down in tears when Al suggested they watch the 2005 horror movie Wolf Creek, which is loosely based on Ivan’s grisly crimes.
‘Al wanted to watch Wolf Creek one night and things turned awkward really quickly,’ a well-placed source told Daily Mail Australia on Monday.
Al reportedly suggested it would be ‘fun’ to watch the film because he ‘hadn’t seen it yet’, and thought a scary movie would ‘help them bond’.
‘He had absolutely no clue about her family. It was very awkward. Sam was hesitant, but just had to tell him. He was gobsmacked,’ the insider said.

The Australian cult horror movie, starring John Jarratt, was inspired by the real-life murders committed by Ivan in the early 1990s.
According to the on-set source, Samantha was ‘anxious’ about discussing the subject on camera, so told Al privately instead.
Samantha’s grandmother Shirley, who died in 2003, was a staunch supporter of her killer brother and is said to have helped him ‘get rid of’ a gun.
‘Shirley used to take her grandchildren to the prison to visit her brother on many occasions,’ a source told Daily Mail Australia.
