Shocking footage reveals moment high school fight turns into 200-person brawl involving parents

A shocking 200-person brawl involving students, parents and police broke out at a Louisiana high school Wednesday morning as the campus descended into chaos.

At least three police officers were injured and ten people were arrested as crowds of people, including parents, threw themselves into the melee.

Footage of the confrontation captured the moment a police officer brutally smashed a student’s head against a brick wall, while in separate incidents, dozens of students and police officers violently attacked each other.

Officials are still trying to explain how the ugly scenes played out at the East Baton Rouge Alternative Prep School, which enrolls students who were previously suspended or expelled from other schools in the district.

The NAACP issued a statement in response to the video circulating calling for “immediate action” to be taken against the officers who beat the students and sentenced the parents involved.

The organization also said it spoke with the sheriff’s department to ensure that all footage of the incident, including body camera footage, will be reviewed as part of the investigation.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, school board security was the first to arrive at the scene shortly after 8 a.m. after responding to reports of a large disturbance on campus.

And authorities quickly called for backup after discovering the violence, which escalated to involve around 200 students and parents fighting.

Local reports indicate that the hostility first broke out among a group of students before quickly spreading throughout the campus.

Parents and outsiders rushed to campus and joined the massive brawl after text messages were reportedly sent asking people to get involved.

Shortly after law enforcement arrived, the rapid escalation led them to issue an urgent call for reinforcements from all available units to quell the chaos.

As students and officers clashed fiercely, authorities said a Baton Rouge police officer was rushed to the hospital with a broken hip and head lacerations.

Police made a total of 10 arrests, including three charged with assault on a police officer, which is a felony.

Five teenagers were also arrested on one charge of disorderly conduct, with an 18-year-old girl arrested on charges of unlawful disruption of a school operation and resisting arrest and a 17-year-old girl on one charge of disorderly conduct. peace and resisting arrest.

None of the parents or outside adults were detained, and all those arrested were between the ages of 15 and 18.

Law enforcement issued an urgent call for all available units to rush to the scene and provide backup.

Video of one of the confrontations with police showed a 17-year-old student and an officer fighting as the police officer tried to arrest him.

In scenes that have since been widely circulated, the officer then punches the student in the face, sending his head flying back against a brick wall.

Police said the teen had previously punched the officer in the face moments earlier and attempted to bite him, and was among those charged with assault on an officer and resisting arrest.

The Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the incident when contacted by DailyMail.com.

Authorities added that they found a loaded gun outside the school during the fight, however there is currently no indication that it was fired.

Police violently confronted runaway students as they flew in a frenzy, with a 17-year-old, pictured, arrested after assaulting an officer.

“What (police) got into was a series of fights, and they started making arrests,” East Baton Rouge school district communications director Ben Lemione told WIBW.

“We just want to emphasize to the public that we are not going to stand for this as a district, it’s a real shame.

“The fact that outsiders are coming onto our school campuses and behaving in this way is really concerning to us and to law enforcement.”

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System said in a statement that it is cooperating with authorities to review the evidence and investigate what led to the school-wide conflict.

Following the violence, Lemione added that the school remains open, but is working with authorities to increase security on campus.
