Pregnant IL woman shot dead after she tried to rob car’s occupants was left for dead by BOYFRIEND 

A seven-month pregnant Chicago woman who was fatally shot and covered in cash was left for dead by her boyfriend after a drug deal gone wrong.

Genesis Escobar, 21, was shot in the back, shoulder and hand on Monday while in the car she allegedly tried to steal in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood with her boyfriend.

Escobar had gotten into the car for a drug deal near her home on West Montana Street around 1 p.m. when gunfire erupted from inside and outside the car.

Her boyfriend, who was not named, tried to rob the occupants of the car from the outside, according to police. Chicago Sun Times.

After the shooting stopped, the car’s occupants dumped her body at an intersection, leaving her covered in cash. Her boyfriend reportedly took some of the money with him before also fleeing the scene, leaving his seven-month pregnant girlfriend for dead.

“They threw a lot of money at her,” said local resident Iris Alvarez News 4. “I don’t know if she was in trouble.”

“I don’t care how much trouble you have,” Alvarez said. “I feel like someone has no heart to do that to anyone.”

Escobar, who was reportedly excited to become a mother, was transported to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center where she was pronounced dead along with her unborn child.

It is unclear if she was armed with some kind of weapon.

The mother-to-be was on probation for battery charging and had been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Alvarez also said that Escobar had come to visit her daughter around 1 p.m. Monday before the incident.

The mother-to-be was on probation for felony charging and had been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle at the time of her death.

She texted my daughter and said to my daughter, ‘Please help me! I’m in trouble!” Alvarez told News4. “But my daughter was sleeping.”

It is unclear what situation Escobar was in.

Alvarez said shortly after they heard gunshots and went outside to see what was going on.

Outside they found Escobar lying in the street gasping for breath.

Witnesses said she was with a group of people when she tried to rob the car, and they also fired shots during the altercation.

While overall violent crime is up 52 percent from the same time last year, it’s up 102 percent compared to 2021.
