A passenger has died on a flight from Turkey to Glasgow, forcing the plane to make an emergency landing.
The 44-year-old man died on Tuesday evening on the Jet2 flight en route to Glasgow from the Turkish resort of Antalya.
The cabin crew quickly moved to resuscitate the man while the plane was still in the air. They gave the man chest compressions for 40 minutes to try to resuscitate him, but staff were unable to prevent his death.
The pilot requested a priority emergency landing to ground the aircraft ahead of other aircraft in line.
The unnamed man was pronounced dead shortly after the emergency landing. Police confirmed that a report had been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, Scotland’s body for investigating deaths.

The plane made an emergency stop at Glasgow Airport at 6.40pm last night.
One of the passengers on the plane told the Daily record: ‘We were about 40 minutes from landing and the next minute all the cabin crew started running to the seats behind me.
“A man had been pulled up to the aisle and they were trying to give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
“The pilot came to tell us that we had to make an emergency landing due to a medical incident on board. We had to land with all our cabin lights on and it was kind of scary because you know that’s pretty dangerous.
The unnamed passenger said cabin crew still tried to resuscitate the man during the emergency landing, while other passengers cried and were shaken by death.
“When we landed, paramedics came in and they were still on the plane for about half an hour before people were released. Everyone on the plane was very upset, but the Jet2 staff were so professional and respectful during the incident,” said the passenger.
