At least 20 children suffer a mysterious illness after eating candy on a school bus in Townsville.
The children, from Bluewater State School, are aged between seven and 12, six have been rushed to hospital, while another sixteen are being examined by paramedics.
The children suffer from vomiting, diarrhea and intestinal pain. They would have eaten a lollipop.
The incident is being investigated by police after paramedics were called to the school at 10am.
In a statement, Queensland Ambulance said a number of children are being treated for “mild symptoms of illness after allegedly ingesting an unknown substance.”
According to the website, Bluewater State School has about 430 students from Prep to Year 6.

In a statement posted on Facebook just after noon, it confirmed that police are investigating and that the parents have been informed.
“The Department (of Education) is aware of an incident that occurred today at Bluewater State School that required the assistance of emergency services,” the statement said.
“School staff acted quickly to assist the students while the Queensland Ambulance Service and parents were contacted. Queensland Police were also present and are investigating.
“Due to privacy concerns, the department is unable to provide any further information.
“Bluewater State School has the safety of students and staff as its highest priority. Guidance or counseling services are made available to anyone who needs support.”
