Mum is furious after sister-in-law takes toddler to cafe in pajamas and then ‘lies’ about it – before being labeled ‘unreasonable’ by critics

  • A mother was agitated after her sister-in-law took her child outside in pajamas
  • Hundreds at a parenting forum told mom to ‘calm down’

A mother is furious that her sister-in-law “knowingly” took her two-year-old in pajamas to a cafe while babysitting.

Post on Mumsnetthe woman asked other parents for advice on how to handle the situation and whether or not she was “unreasonable” to get angry.

“SIL (sister-in-law) deliberately took DD in her pajamas,” the mother claims.

The child was wearing a jacket at the time, but the mother says the pajamas would have been visible and is convinced that her sister-in-law is lying.

‘My daughter is normally with my SIL one day a week. She had spent the night before with my mother, who had no clothes to dress her in the morning, but knew my SIL had one when she checked with her beforehand,” she explained.

Is the mother unreasonable?

After seeing a photo her sister-in-law posted of her daughter, the mother confronted her.

“I asked my SIL why she was still in pajamas and she said she didn’t know she wasn’t dressed when she picked her up because she already had her coat on and they went straight out,” she said.

“I asked my mother what happened during the pick-up. She said she apologized for not getting my daughter dressed in the morning, she didn’t have spare clothes but knew my sister-in-law did so she thought she would get my daughter ready before taking her out.”

She added that her mother or sister-in-law is “lying.”

‘Moreover, you can see what a child is wearing under his coat. DD’s coat hits just above her thighs. SIL could have seen her pajama bottoms,” she added.

The mother said she told her husband about the fiasco, but he has yet to discuss it with his sister.

Now the woman makes sure that her daughter is properly dressed before being babysitted by her sister-in-law.

“This happened a week ago, but I can’t get it out of my mind. I don’t know if I should just let it go but it just makes me so angry that my poor baby was taken out uncared for,” the woman added.

Nearly 500 people shared their thoughts on the subject, with many saying outright that the mother is “overreacting.”

“You are unreasonable and very precious, calm down,” one wrote.

‘A baby doesn’t matter. It’s a one-off. Is it worth a queue? I assume this daycare is useful to you? if so I wouldn’t rock the boat,” added another.

A third lashed out, writing, “Your poor baby?? Why? It sounds like you have an awful lot of help and support from your family. Appreciate that or pay a professional.’

Another said, “This is not important.”
